Celebrating local artists and makers in Sherwood, Notts
Sherwood Art Week is back! A week-long festival celebrating local artists and makers, and supporting independent businesses, Sherwood Art Week (SAW) runs from 17th June to 25th June and is an incredible community event.
Festivities begin with the Secret Garden Craft Fair on June 17th – perfect for last minute Fathers’ Day gifts…), held in Sherwood United Reformed Church. I’m looking forward to wandering around the stalls, browsing the crafts and art on sale and indulging myself in some delicious food and drink.
Yarn bombing is another SAW tradition. This year the theme is nature, and individuals and craft groups are donating their knitted and crocheted crafts to brighten up the streets of Sherwood with delightful yarn decorations.
There is also an incredible array of arty events, classes and tutorials for you to join in with, from children’s screen printing to intricate lacemaking, creative writing to making mosaics. I’ll be joining in with as many of these as I can!
Art in windows - bringing independent businesses and local artists together
The wonderful shopkeepers of Sherwood give over their windows every year to a variety of local artists and makers to create displays of their art, stretching the length of Mansfield Road and onto Haydn Road.
I’m super excited to be showing my jewellery in the window of The Jolly Pug, a bar and brasserie on Mansfield Road, Sherwood which serves incredible food as well as showing live music every Friday night. Keep an eye out for my display and let me know which creature you fell in love with.
