Eco friendly Christmas gifts in Nottinghamshire
I feel completely justified in talking about Christmas now that we’re in November (and yes, I’ve started on the mince pies as well…)! I really hate talking about it too soon, but as a maker, I start preparing months in advance to make sure that I’m ready for your Christmas gift orders, as well as the Christmas Fairs I go to showcase my animal friends.
This year I’ll be exhibiting at two of my favourite Christmas Fairs, craft fairs that I go to as a customer every year, knowing they have the most wonderful array of handmade, artisanal gifts to choose from. I love browsing the stalls and chatting to the artists and makers about their processes. I’m really looking forward to being behind a stall this year, although I’m sure I’ll still spend a lot of time wandering, chatting and picking up special pieces for my own friends and family too!
I’ve been working on my display for the craft fairs recently, it’s still a work in progress but it’s going to be something special…
The Harley Gallery Welbeck Winter Weekend Craft Fair
25 Nov – 27th Nov 2022
The Harley Gallery’s Welbeck Winter Weekend Craft Fair is back this November and it’s going to be incredible!
Nothing says Christmas like browsing for beautiful handmade gifts while enjoying a glass of mulled wine and some delicious festive food! The Welbeck Winter Weekend will showcase over 100 artisan makers (including me!!) with 60 artists and craftspeople selected by The Harley Gallery, 15 artists’ studios and 30 artisan food stalls chosen by the award-winning Welbeck Farm Shop.
You can also explore the estate during your visit. The fair will be held in the beautiful Hunting Stables featuring architecture which dates back to the 19th century. You can learn more at The Harley Gallery’s exhibition ‘Tunnel Vision’ on show until 31st December 2022.

The Nottingham Contemporary Christmas Craft Fair
Fri 2 Dec – Sun 4 Dec 2022
Nottingham Contemporary’s Christmas Craft Fair features over 40 artists, designers and makers; from independent, local Nottingham artisans to creators from around the UK, so you can choose to shop locally this Christmas, while supporting small businesses.
There will be a fabulous variety of craft and design including ceramics, textiles, jewellery (yay!), Christmas decorations, homeware, candles, prints, cards and lots more. I’m really excited to be featured alongside some incredible artists, creators and makers including Amy Blackwell, Rolling Roses, Sap Plants and Olivier Ledger, amongst many more. Environmentally friendly silver jewellery for Christmas gifts
We hear a lot about eco-friendly Christmas gifts at this time of year (hooray!) but these round ups often seem to focus on compostable kitchen sponges or chemical free loo cleaner… important, but not the sort of thing I want to be pulling out of my stocking on December 25th!
I’m here to tell you that it is 100% possible to find beautiful, ethical, deeply special gifts for your loved ones that have a gentle impact on the earth. My silver jewellery is not only made from recycled metal (meaning that no new metal is mined—a harmful industry which often uses unfair labour practices) cutting down on 94% of the total carbon emissions produced during the creation of a piece of silver jewellery, but the process is also chemical free. Instead of using harsh chemicals to clean your jewellery, I use citric acid which is a completely safe, organic, non-toxic and non-corrosive liquid.
I’ve carefully considered every step of your new animal friend, from making until they end up in your hands. All of my packaging is either fully recycled and/or recyclable, meaning you don’t need to worry that anything from your order will end up in landfill.
I use:
- Jewellery boxes which are 100% biodegradable and fully recyclable
- Jewellery box foam which is fully recyclable
- Postal boxes which are 100% biodegradable and fully recyclable
- Wood wool which is 100% biodegradable
- Brown parcel paper which is 100% biodegradable and fully recyclable
- Eco paper tape with a natural latex-based adhesive, 100% biodegradable & recyclable
- Printed materials which are all 100% biodegradable and fully recyclable
- Postage stickers which are 100% biodegradable

I’m already looking forward to December 21st when the days begin to get lighter and the promise of sunshine returns. That’s also when many schools and workplaces break up for Christmas AND it’s the last date you can order a silver creature that I will be able to dispatch to you before Christmas.
I send all your UK orders by special delivery, with free UK shipping so they make their way to their new homes quickly and safely. Please bear in mind potential Royal Mail strikes during the Christmas season.
Bespoke commissions have a longer lead time so please get in touch ASAP if you’d like something completely unique.
